Sources have confirmed that Pennsylvania high school quarterback Brennan Nosovitch has given South Carolina quarterbacks coach G.A. Mangus a verbal for the class of 2012. This isn’t a shocker, as all signs pointed to Nosovitch verbally committing to Carolina, but it is good news that he has made his decision public and allows Spurrier and company to to focus recruiting energy on other needs.

Nosovitch is a three-star prospect, per Rivals, listed at 6’2, 200lbs, with a 4.6 40. As a junior last season, Nosovitch threw for 3,112 yards and 43 touchdowns (at a 60.0% completion rate), while rushing for an additional 1,647 yards and 25 more touchdowns. He’s seen as a dual threat QB at the high school level, but in the SEC he will more than likely fine tune his skills to focus on being a pocket passer.

Hardly a quiet prospect, Nosovitch received offers from other programs such as as Georgia Tech, Maryland, Clemson, and Virginia. He also had serious interest from  Penn State, Boston College, Pittsburgh, Michigan State, and West Virginia among others.

While Connor Shaw is thought to be the quarterback of the immediate future, Spurrier might finally have a guy that he can mold into his signature quarterback in Nosovitch. Nosovitch will come with more hype than any quarterback signed since current starter Stephen Garcia.
